A Season of New Life
Easter is the season of new life. We celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus, and the hope of our own salvation in love stronger than death. Like ashes in a furnace impossibly transformed by the flames into a solid piece of wood, the destruction of death has born the fruit of new life. Our slavery to sin and death is ended by the saving power of God. Our longing for eternal life is met by an eternal solution. “Oh happy fault that gained for us so great a redeemer!”
Love is stronger than death. Forty days of fasting give way to fifty days of feasting. Love is stronger than death. Forty days of penitence give way to fifty days of praise.
Love is stronger than death. Forty days in the desolation give way to fifty days of consolation. Let our song celebrate fully the greatness of our Savior Jesus and the hope for eternal life with him won for us by His Passion, death, and Resurrection.
“Our thoughts in this present life should turn on the praise of God, because it is in praising God that we shall rejoice forever in the life to come; and no one can be ready for the next life unless he trains himself for it now.” - St. Augustine
