as we gather 1,000 Voices for the holistic renewal
of Catholic music in the parish & in the home.

Give Now

Music impacts the work of the whole Church— from liturgy to evangelization — because the way we sing as a Church directly affects the way we pray as a Church! So why is it that music is one of the most divisive topics in many parishes nowadays?

The Vigil Project invites you to be 1 of a 1,000 voices that come together to support the holistic renewal of Catholics praying in song. Over the next year — our 10th anniversary at The Vigil Project — a group of passionate people will journey together to:

  1. Pray together with music

  2. Grow in understanding of music’s role in faith

  3. Support The Vigil Project’s renewal efforts in homes, parishes, and dioceses

Be part of renewing the Church’s song. When you sign up to be 1 of 1,000 voices, you not only join a year-long journey of music yourself, but also help The Vigil Project shed light on the real questions being raised right now about Catholic music in most local communities . . .

Your support answers the musical questions being raised in the Church.

  • Should certain hymns be banned?

Yes, but there’s room to pray with them outside of the Mass. We are partnering with dioceses around the US right now to help them address these challenges.

  • Is there such a thing as Catholic praise and worship?

Yes, and we’re opening a new studio to create more music that serves the devotional needs of Catholics.

  • Does the Church have a talent problem?

No, the Church has an equipping problem, and we’re opening a 2027 Summer Institute in Italy to equip musicians for liturgical, devotional, and missionary ministry.

  • Are Catholics divided in musical preference?

Yes, perhaps more than ever, and we are releasing our Meaning of Music film series to promote discussions that build unity.

  • Is there a way for Catholic families to sing more at home?

Yes there is! Soon we are publishing Melody of the Home with Word on Fire: a resource to bring chant, hymns, folk songs, and the psalms into daily home life.

  • Can we fix bad Catholic music?

Yes, but the answer is more complex than getting the right hymnal or finding a passionate celebrity to inspire local musicians. It’s about authentic accompaniment in building a love for the Church’s vast and beautiful vision for music. This is the work The Vigil Project is doing in homes, parishes, schools, dioceses, and communities.

BE 1 OF 1,000 VOICES

Be 1 of 1,000 voices in the first days of this effort. Make a $100/mo donation or a meaningful year-end gift, and you will get access to a host of online and in-person events in 2026. These events are designed to help you grow in your musical prayer, find community, and inspire your local community through music—whether you are a musician or a music appreciator! (Note: the schedule of events will be emailed to you in January 2026)

Your gift will help The Vigil Project to:

  • Bring on new staff to support our parish and diocese ministry team, allowing more Catholic communities to grow in their understanding of Catholic music

  • Create new resources to teach hymns, chants, praise & worship, and psalmody to households, in partnership with Word on Fire

  • Release our eight-episode film, Meaning of Music, featuring Matt Maher, Bishop Barron, the Monks of Solesmes, Paul Jernberg, and many more

  • Invest in essential equipment to record new devotional music for Catholic listeners

This is not a campaign about money. This is a campaign about transformation. When you become 1 of 1,000 voices, you are signing up for a year of praying through song, and enable communities around the globe to pray through song as well.

TESTIMONIALS

I cannot think of any other apostolate serving the Church quite like The Vigil Project. Their collective gifting is only matched by their selflessness and desire to share the love of Jesus through music, fellowship, and prayer. Their passion for ministry is contagious, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to serve alongside them.
— Kris Frank, National Eucharistic Congress
The way The Vigil Project is on the cusp of the Holy Spirit’s move is that they minister to Catholic liturgists. So much talking and writing goes into the Catholic project of offering God beautiful liturgy. There are so many articles, books, workshops, rehearsals, and arguments! But who stops and just prays for the liturgists? Who bends their life around in order to listen to their conflicts and to care for and gently guide them? THIS is a missing link that the Vigil Project provides.
— Sr. Mary Ruth O'Brien, Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia
