MEET SOPHIE.
NEW ORLEANS, LA
For Sophie Salopek, singing has been a lifelong passion beginning in the sixth grade. Yet it wasn’t until college at Louisiana State University that God gradually cemented her call to ministry. Sophe earned a degree in Civil Engineering all while serving in the campus’s music ministry at Christ the King parish, where The Vigil Project holds a musician formation residency program. Following an internship with producer Jack Miele in 2021, Sophie joined The Vigil Project as an artist and administrator. Over her tenure, she has recorded three albums (True Presence, Honest, and Way of the Star) and completed five national and international tours serving over 100 parishes and conferences to date. Sophie was blessed to lead a month of worship and formation for the community of San Giovanni Bosco in Modena, Italy, and has opened for artists such as The Hillbilly Thomists. As an administrator, Sophie is the visionary behind The Vigil Project’s social media channels, and perceives social media as a platform for a beautiful encounter with the Lord. Parallel to her work with The Vigil Project, Sophie makes up half of the duo-ensemble The Dwell, and tours college campuses to engage campus culture through music. In addition to her work within The Vigil Project, Sophie has been blessed to serve many Catholic entities as a musician, including Lifeteen, the ECHO Community, and the Theology of the Body Institute. When Sophie is not on the road or at a parish, she’s often found in Trader Joe’s, buying another pair of sneakers, or spending quality time with her young niece and nephew.
